The M.S. in Computational Biology (MSCB) program at Carnegie Mellon is a joint program between the Computational Biology Department in the School of Computer Science and the Biological Sciences Department in the Mellon College of Science.

Our students

MSCB students are a diverse group of students from many strong universities throughout the United States and the world.  They come from a variety of different academic backgrounds to the program, from mathematics to biology to computer science.

At Carnegie Mellon, students choose from a wide menu of courses from both colleges.  After completing the program, some alumni have worked in a variety of companies, from small startups to Fortune 500 companies, as well as in academic/nonprofit research.  Other alumni have been accepted to the most competitive PhD programs in computational biology in the United States.

For more information about the MSCB program, please check out the program homepage.

Apply Today!

Our application is hosted from September 1 through December 10 on Applygrad, which allows you to apply to more than one graduate program offered by the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon with a single application.  Note that applying via Applygrad incurs an application fee for each program to which you apply.  However, if you are apply to the PhD program in computational biology via Applygrad, then you may select to have your application automatically considered for acceptance the MSCB program at no extra fee.
