MSCB Student Shefali Umrania Awarded ACM SIGHPC/Intel Fellowship

Carnegie Mellon University MSCB student Shefali Umrania has been named one of 12 students to win a 2017 ACM SIGHPC/Intel Computational and Data Science Fellowship.

A partnership between Intel and ACM SIGHPC, the fellowship aims to increase the participation of underrepresented groups in computational and data science graduate programs worldwide by providing $15,000 annually for study anywhere in the world.

Nominees spanned a multitude of disciplines, including students from 25 countries. The nominations were evaluated based on nominees’ overall potential for excellence in data science and/or computational science, and the extent to which they will serve as leaders and role models to increase diversity in the workplace.
